Three generations of the Butler family, on Kilkenny roads since 1990
The business was started in 1990 by Frances and Martin Butler — a husband and wife running taxis in Kilkenny. That is thirty-five years of knowing which road is quickest at six in the morning, which hotel entrance the car should pull up to, and how much time a family with three cases really needs to make a flight.
In 2015 their son, Martin Jnr, joined them in the taxis. Over the next few years the work grew beyond individual fares: regular customers who ring the same number every time, hotels in the city who pass guests to us, and contracts with the HSE, including dialysis transport, and with local schools.
Those contracts changed how we work. Bringing someone to dialysis three times a week, or collecting the same children every school morning, is not a job you can be casual about. People are relying on the car being there. That is the standard the airport runs are held to as well.
In 2022 we added minibuses to carry bigger groups — wedding parties, golf groups, teams, corporate travel and families going to the airport together rather than splitting across three cars.

Minibuses added for group travel, weddings and corporate work
It is still a family business. When you ring, you are talking to the people who will actually organise your journey — not a call centre passing you to whichever car is nearest.
“We booked a bus for a hen party in Kilkenny. Martin was brilliant to deal with. Excellent communication and very reliable. The bus was absolutely spotless! Our drivers, Martin and John, were great craic and had music and lights etc in the bus. Would recommend them 100%.”
“Had a fantastic trip in with Martin, arrived exactly on time and was like a party bus on the way into our destination… would highly recommend for anyone looking for a good reliable and good craic taxi man, will defo be getting this again”
“We had a group of 26 in Kilkenny for the weekend and the lads were brilliant. Even helped us out for a few runs we hadn’t prebooked. Highly recommend.”
